No Charge (30 April 2024)
Before you replace your generator and battery, check your cutout relay. This little relay can hang up cutting off the charge to the battery. If this relay won't close, your generator can't charge your battery and you know where your problem is. It will save you the purchase of some expensive components. Even if this relay doesn't appear to be bad, forcing your generator to charge by momentarily touching the generator field to ground. If the charge rate jumps, you have a bad regulator or field resistor (depending on the type of system) and replacement of the generator wouldn't have corrected the problem... just made you poorer.
